They say it’s the thought that counts, but at the end of the day we are judged by our actions. It’s not who we are that defines us but rather what we do.

Is it possible to forgive and not forget?
To forgive do we have to lose what we learnt through the pain? What we learnt about ourselves? About those who hurt us?

Forgetting would make it easier. But if you were exposed to that kind of pain again by that same person, wouldn’t you feel foolish for allowing yourself to forget? Losing that strength you gained through pain only to have find it again.
Just because you want something bad enough.
Just because you think believing it will patch up the hurt. It’s a temporary fix that doesn’t help the wound heal.
It prolongs the inevitable and eventually plunges you into the same cold pain and hurt that you thought you had escaped.
If only it was that easy.
If only you really could fake it til you make it.
